METHOD OF MANUFACTURING GLASS BODY OF ROTATION, APPARATUS THEREFOR AND THE GLASS BODY OF ROTATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a large glass body of rotation without exclusively depending on surface tension, by rotating a molding container containing a glass gob so that the glass gob rolls therein by its own weight and centrifugal force. SOLUTION: An apparatus 1 for manufacturing the glass body of rotation molds the softened glass gob 2 into a body of rotation and is equipped with the molding container 4 containing the glass gob 2, a driving mechanism 7 which rotates the molding container 4 around its axis 5 of rotation and a pressing member 22 which makes the glass gob 2 roll inside the molding container 4 and presses the rolling glass gob 2.
