STREAM RECEIVER AND STREAM RECEPTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of overflow or underflow in a buffer for accumulating stream data, even in a system where a stream transmission rate at a transmission side cannot be controlled on the reception side, by eliminating the need for controlling the transmission rate at the transmission side in a configuration, wherein a decoding speed is controlled in accordance with a state of the buffer for accumulating stream data at a stream data receiving side. SOLUTION: A buffer 111 temporarily accumulates received stream data. A decoder 112 decodes the stream data. A control unit 113 accelerates the decoding speed, if it is decided, based on the amount of change in the amount of stream data accumulated in the buffer 111, that the accumulated amount tends to increase, and decelerates the decoding speed, if it is decided that the amount of stream data accumulated in the buffer 111 tends to decrease.
