Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight and a liquid crystal display device provided with the backlight capable of suppressing variation of a luminescent color and luminance of an LED, improving utilization efficiency of light, and suppressing increase in thickness. SOLUTION: The LED 101 and a first reflector 108 are sandwiched by a pair of light guide plates 102, 103. A pair of second reflectors 104, 105 are arranged on both outer sides of the light guide plates 102, 103. A light guide plate is arranged above the light guide plates 102, 103 and between the second reflectors 104, 105. The light guide plate is formed by combining a pair of wedged light guide plates 112, 113. Thereby, colors of light of the LED 101 are sufficiently mixed by the light guide plates 102, 103, and the wedged light guide plates 112, 113, and loss of the light at end surfaces of the first reflector 108, and the wedged light guide plates 112, 113 are prevented, and projection of the LED 101 and the first reflector 108 can be suppressed.
