Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric water heater with a heating means whose on/off operation frequency is restricted to save energy and achieve a longer life and with a hot water storage tank whose capacity is minimized while securing a required amount of hot water to be used in maximum temporarily in the evening. SOLUTION: The electric water heater comprises the heating means for heating water in the hot water storage tank 1, wherein hot water heated up with midnight power is stored in the hot water storage tank. When the hot water in the hot water storage tank 1 is used in the daytime, a hot water run-out preventing control device 5 instructs the heating means of heating-up operation a certain time before a preset time for bath hot water filling operation so that hot water is stored in the hot water storage tank up to its almost full capacity.
