Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device, capable of properly avoiding collision of one's own vehicle to a peripheral object or deviation out of a lane or a road. SOLUTION: The vehicle control device, that is for carrying out control to stabilize action of the own vehicle, comprises a skid restricting means to monitor vehicle states of the own vehicle, and controls the own vehicle to restrict skid when the skid occurs, and a control content changing means to monitor environments around the own vehicle, and change the contents of vehicle control (control quantity or control start timing) for restricting skid by the skid restricting means in accordance with ambient surroundings (collision probability with peripheral object or lane deviation probability) so as to set the control quantity smaller or the control start timing slower as the collision probability/lane deviation probability is higher.
