IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent tailing development caused by inappropriate adhesion power of the toner on a recording sheet while maintaining developing characteristics. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a developing device 13 which contains a toner inside and develops an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor drum 10 into a toner image, a transfer device 4 which transfers the toner image on the photoreceptor drum 10 onto a recording sheet, and a fixing device 7 which fixes the toner image transferred onto the recording sheet, and the apparatus includes charging members 15, 24 and a controlling unit. The charging members 15, 24 impart charges to the toner image in the same polarity as that of the toner in the toner image in the meantime from when the developing device 13 develops the electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor drum 10 until the fixing device 7 fixes the transferred toner image to the recording sheet. The control unit changes the charge amount to be applied into the toner image by the charging members 15, 24 based on the number of recording sheets where toner images are fixed from when use of the toner is started in the developing device 13.
