Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fiber-reinforced metal matrix composite having superior isotropy, by three-dimensionally and uniformly distributing short fibers in a matrix metal, and to provide the fiber-reinforced metal matrix composite produced by the method. SOLUTION: This production method comprises the steps of: coating the surface of a foam resin particle 10 made from styrol or the like with a metallic thin film 11; further making short fibers 12 mechanically adhering onto the surface of the metallic thin film; charging the foam resin particles 10 into a mold (C), in as a state of making the short fibers 12 adhering onto the metallic thin film 11, or preferably after having removed the foam resin by heating it; and casting a metal molten metal (M) into the mold; and solidifying the metal by cooling it.
