Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary chamber type internal combustion engine in which ignitability of fuel is compatible with stability of combustion. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine comprises a fuel injection valve 27 feeding a fuel into an auxiliary combustion chamber 61 and an ignition plug 29 igniting an air-fuel mixture in the auxiliary combustion chamber 61. An ECU 40 so controls the supplied amount of fuel to the auxiliary combustion chamber 61 that the excess air ratio and/or the fuel dilution become desired values near the ignition timing according to the operating conditions.
