Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide particulate carrying carbon particle which can be used as a replacement of platinum carrying carbon particle or metal platinum particle used generally at present for an electrode catalyst of a fuel cell, capable of drastically reducing the amount of platinum used compared with conventional platinum carrying carbon particles or the like. SOLUTION: A conductive oxide particulate (for example, a conductive oxide having as a main phase tin-contained indium oxide, antimony-contained tin oxide, or aluminum-contained zinc oxide) of which crystallite size is 1-20 nm, and which has at least one kind of noble metal element in the crystal lattice is carried by carbon particles with average particle size of 20-70 nm, while retaining mono-dispersion state up to the primary particles. As a manufacturing means, firstly, a solution containing complex ion of the metals constituting the noble metal-contained conductive oxide particulate is prepared, then, carbon particles are dispersed in the solution obtained and, after having the complex ion of the metals adsorbed to the carbon particles, water and heat treatment is applied.
