MONITORING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a monitoring device for monitoring the presence of an intruder in a restricted area irrespectively of the size of the restricted area, and for checking the position of the intruder. SOLUTION: The monitoring device comprises a pair of a transmitter leak transmission path 1 and a receiver transmission path 2. The transmitter leak transmission path 1 is bent so as to be parallel with one another in a predetermined direction of a monitored area 8, and is arranged in the monitored area 8; and the receiver leak transmission path 2 is bent so as to face the transmitter leak transmission path 1, and is arranged in the monitored area 8. A signal generator 3 is connected to one end of the transmitter leak transmission path 1, and generates a spread spectrum signal to output to the transmitter leak transmission path 1. A signal receiver 4 is connected to one end of the receiver leak transmission path 2, and receives the spread spectrum signal. Moreover, a detector 5 detects an intruding object 7 in the monitored area 8, based on the spread spectrum signal generated by the signal generator 3 and the spread spectrum signal received by the signal receiver 4.
