Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of being used as a working base and a storing base, while allowing a user to easily recognize that a top surface part of an image forming device can be used as a working base or the like, wherein the user hardly slams his/her body against the side face of the device during working. SOLUTION: The top surface parts 28, 33 and 35 on each side of unit of a copying machine body unit 20 or the like are made to project outward from each side face of the unit to form canopy parts X, while constituting the flattened and very wide top surface, thus making the user strongly recognize the canopy parts X as the working base and the storing base by the visual sensation.
