Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit observation of the entire observation region, in a short time, without deterioration in the coupling efficiency of receiving light during observation. SOLUTION: The microburst detector is provided with a radiation part 001; a transceiver part 002; a signal processing part 003 subjecting a reception signal output from the transceiver part to signal processing to calculate the Doppler speed and detect microbursts from the spatial distribution of the Doppler speed; a drive part 005 scanning the radiation direction of emitted electromagnetic waves; a control part 006 controlling and monitoring respective parts; a maximum distance extracting part 201 extracting the maximum distance in a beam direction during present observation in an observation area; and an angular velocity setting part 202 for setting the scanning velocity so that the coupling efficiency at a point in the observation area at a maximum distance is within an allowable value. The scanning with the beam is performed with the beam scanning velocity made variable, on the basis of the angular velocity set by the angular velocity setting part 202, according to the beam direction during the present observation.
