Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with imperfection of a technology concerning compatibility of a Fibre Channel (FC) switch. SOLUTION: A novel and unobvious data processing system, method, and computer program product according to an embodiment copes with imperfection of a technology concerning compatibility of a Fibre Channel (FC) switch, and directly acquires multiple port addresses from a SAN fabric by the FC switch. Using an N port connection from the last tier FC SAN switch, the system connects to the remaining SAN fabric, and utilizes an N port ID virtualization (NPIV) fibre channel function. The NPIV function enables one physical FC port (N port) to log in the SAN fabric a plurality of times and receive a unique N port ID upon every login.
