TRAFFIC FLOW CONTROL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic flow control system capable of flexibly responding to change in traffic volume in each advancing direction. SOLUTION: The traffic flow control system 1 comprises a vehicle sensor 2 for measuring the length of a current waiting line of vehicles in each lane at an intersection X on the downstream of a two-lane road RM, a central control unit 5 for determining, based on the degree of congestion obtained from the line length in each lane, permitted advancing directions in which vehicles traveling in each lane can advance within the intersection X, and an information display board 4 for displaying information for the permitted advancing directions to the vehicles traveling in each lane.
