ULTRAVIOLET RAY GENERATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet ray generator capable of controlling a generation amount of ultraviolet rays without complicating operation. SOLUTION: This ultraviolet ray generator is provided with: a discharge tube 1 capable of transmitting ultraviolet rays 5; a pair of electrodes 2 arranged around the discharge tube 1; and a power source 3 for applying an A.C. voltage or a pulse voltage to the pair of electrodes 2. The ultraviolet ray generator generates the ultraviolet rays 5 by applying the A.C. voltage or the pulse voltage to the pair of electrodes 2 by the power source 3 to generate discharge in the discharge tube 1, and is equipped with a discharge detection sensor 7 for determining that it is in a discharge state when discharge is detected.
