THIN FILM MAGNETIC HEAD AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head accurately recording information by preventing occurrence of noise when information is recoded, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A Gd prescription layer 4 prescribing depth from a medium opposing plane side of a nonmagnetic layer 6 is formed on a substrate including a lower part core layer 2, a magnetic pole layer 13 constituted of a pair of magnetic pole layers 5, 7 via the nonmagnetic layer 6 is formed on the substrate, the Gd prescription layer 4 is thinned so that an upper plane of the Gd prescription layer 4 in a boundary between the magnetic pole layer 13 and the Gd prescription layer 4 is positioned between upper and lower planes of the nonmagnetic layer 6, and width of the magnetic pole layer is reduced.
