Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure accuracy of spherical faces where an inner ring and an outer ring are kept into contact with each other and a track groove while shortening a processing time, and to reduce heat generation in an initial period of use. SOLUTION: In this fixed type constant velocity universal joint for a drive shaft, a spherical inner face 5 of the outer ring 1 and the track groove 7 are formed by cut faces after quench hardening. A spherical outer face 6 of the inner ring 2 and the track groove 8 are also formed by cut faces after quench hardening. A retainer 4 has a spherical outer face 10, a spherical inner face 11, and an inner surface of a pocket 9 formed by cut faces after quench hardening. Faces of the retainer 4, the outer ring 1 and the inner ring 2 kept into contact with each other are provided with surface-treated layers to reduce frictional resistance.
