Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to the weight saving of an outdoor unit for an air conditioner and to reduce the cost of a reactor. SOLUTION: The reactor includes a square shape iron core 1, a central magnetic leg core 2, a coil 3, and an insulating means 4. The dimension W1 of the coil 3 is made to be substantially the same as the thickness W2 of the laminate of the square shape iron core 1. Six sides among the eight sides of a coil layer surface contact the square shape iron core 1 via the insulating means 4. Consequently, heat dissipation is raised in the coil 3, the diameter of winding wire is reduced for the portion of a margin with respect to a coil temperature raising limit, and the margin of a dimension in an iron core window is obtained by the reduction of a coil cross sectional area due to the reduction of the winding wire diameter. Then, the compact square shape iron core 1 is used with a short magnetic passage length.
