PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair which can change the course of travel without lowering the travel speed and reduces physical burden on a person sitting thereon. SOLUTION: Main wheels 16 and 18 are arranged on both sides of a seat portion 14. Levers 20 and 22 are provided corresponding to the main wheels 16 and 18. The levers 20 and 22 project to the diametrical outside surfaces of corresponding main wheels 16 and 18 and can swing nearly around the axis O of the main wheels 16 and 18. A power transmission mechanism provided between the levers 20 and 22 and the main wheels 16 and 18 provides torque to the main wheels 16 and 18. Columnar members 34 and 36 are rotatably supported on frames 12 along the Z direction. Subsidiary wheels 38 and 40 are supported rotatably with the columnar members 34 and 36. Footrest members 46 and 48 are provided on the diametrical outside surfaces of the columnar members 34 and 36.
