METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING THROAT DEPTH VALUE IN FILLET WELD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for measuring a throat depth value in fillet weld, capable of measuring easily and precisely the throat depth after a secular change of a fillet weld part in a portion difficult to be measured, such as a junction part between a deck plate of a hull and longitudinal beams thereof. SOLUTION: This apparatus 10 for measuring the throat depth of the present invention is constituted of a phased array probe 11, a phased array flaw detector control part 17 and an analytical means 17. In the present invention, a phased array ultrasonic wave is measured from a surface of a mother board (upper face side of the deck of the hull, or the like), and a distance between an unwelded end of the fillet weld part and a fillet surface line is calculated to measure the throat depth. Corrosion wear and tear or the like are thereby inspected easily as to the welded part conventionally difficult to be measured, such as the junction part between the deck plate of the hull and the longitudinal beams thereof.
