EXTERNAL RESONATOR TYPE SURFACE EMISSION OF LASER CAPABLE REUSING PUMP BEAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front optical pumping external resonator type surface emission laser of which the absorption of a pump beam by an active layer is improved by reusing the pump beam. SOLUTION: The external resonator type surface emission laser comprises an active layer 34 that emits the signal light of a specified wavelength, an external mirror 37 that is separated from the upper surface of the active layer 34 to face it, allowing a part of the signal light generated by the active layer 34 to transmit and exit outside while reflecting one part on the active layer 34, a pump laser 35 for releasing the pump beam for exciting the active layer 34 toward the upper surface of the active layer 34, and a multiplex band reflector 33 that adjoins the lower surface of the active layer 34 for reflecting any of the signal light generated by the active layer 34 and the pump beam 35 that has been transmitted without being absorbed by the active layer 34.
