Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical composition for multicolor display capable of display in color with memory property, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: For example, an optical element has a pair of a transparent substrate 10 and a back substrate 12 arranged opposite each other with a specified gap by a spacer 22, and a pair of a first electrode 14 and a second electrode 16 and a periodic structure 18 and a dispersion medium 20 as the optical composition for multicolor display are arranged in the gap between the transparent substrate 10 and back substrate 12. Charg transferable particulates (charge transferable particulates 20A) dispersed in the dispersion medium 20 enter a gap structure of the periodic structure of the optical composition for multicolor display to change a structure color of the periodic structure.
