PLANT IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM AND ORGANISM IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, through which a user can identify an attractive plant in a stroll path such as a country mountain or mountain path on the spot or even after coming home with a high recognition rate. SOLUTION: This system comprises an image input means inputting a characteristic image of an object plant by photographing; a characteristic quantity extraction means detecting a characteristic quantity of the object plant from the image inputted to the image input means; an area specification means acquiring area information in which the image input of the object plant is performed; a basic database storing names or families of a plurality of wild grasses throughout the counter, characteristic quantity information corresponding to the characteristic quantity, and sample images of plants; data group information of a plurality of wild grasses shown in each predetermined area; a narrowing means extracting a plant group from the basic database based on the area information and the data group information to form a retrieval object group; and a retrieval means performing retrieval by comparing the characteristic quantity extracted by the characteristic quantity extraction means with characteristic quantities of data of the retrieval object group.
