HORIZONTAL ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique achieving simplification of a lubrication oil path and reduction in a use amount of lubrication oil by construction improvement of a horizontal engine. SOLUTION: The horizontal engine 1 has a cylinder head 4 disposed at a front of a cylinder block 3, a crankshaft 7 rotatably supported in a horizontal direction in the cylinder block 3, a lubrication oil pump 26 disposed on a horizontal one side of the crankshaft 7, a gear case 25 disposed on a horizontal other side and a piston 8 reciprocated back and forth in an almost horizontal direction. In the horizontal engine, a discharge port (oil passage 3a) of the lubrication oil pump 26 is in communication with an oil passage 3b perforated in a longitudinal direction in a wall of the cylinder block 3, a rear portion of the oil passage 3b is in communication with a rear lid oil passage 43 perforated in the horizontal direction in a rear lid 40 closing a rear face of the cylinder block 3 and the other end of the rear lid oil passage 43 is in communication with an oil passage 3e and a drill hole 3f which are perforated in a wall on the horizontal other side of the cylinder block and are in communication with an interior of the gear case 25.
