Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass float process which is easy to carry out and can prevent the undesirable devitrifications in the edge regions to an extent such that neither do increased strains appear in a glass ribbon nor is a glass broken in an annealing oven even in the floating of glasses prone to crystallization (namely green glasses for production of glass ceramic plates). SOLUTION: The process for producing a flat glass comprises pouring a liquid glass being a precursor of glass ceramics into a metal bath which is in an inlet zone and forms the glass into a ribbon having a prescribed width and thickness so that the glass flow in the inlet zone abuts on at least one heating boundary wall, heating at least one heating boundary wall to a temperature equal to or higher than the upper devitrification limit (UDL), and indirectly heating at least one heating boundary wall.
