The color blur detection circuit 36 has a low-slice circuit, a high-pass filter, and a high-clip circuit; detects the edge of the highlight of a G signal for composing the image signal, and supplies it to a color blur suppression circuit 38 arranged at the poststage of a γ correction circuit 30 as a color blur detection signal. The color blur suppression circuit 38 uses a color blur detection signal for correcting color difference signals CB, CR after the gamma correction, thus suppressing the color blurs occurring at the edge of the highlight in the object image.
