TRANSFER FIXING DRIVE METHOD AND TRANSFER FIXING DRIVING DEVICE FOR IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent sticking of toner to an intermediate transfer belt and a transfer fixing roller when an abnormality occurs. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, when an abnormality such as jamming is detected by an abnormality detecting sensor 50, a control part 46 stops an action of the image forming apparatus by outputting commands to each driving part to stop the action. Furthermore, the control part 46 outputs a driving command for a stepping motor 44 to a motor driver 45, a separation cam 43 is rotated, a separation lever 42 is rotated by the rotation of the separation cam 43 and a transfer fixing roller 27 is separated from the intermediate transfer belt 25. Thus, by separating the transfer fixing roller 27 and the intermediate transfer belt 25, melted toner is not attached to the intermediate transfer belt 25 even when recording paper P stopped while passing through a pressurizing nip N is pulled out in the paper transport direction or in the direction opposite to the paper transport direction and the toner sticking to the intermediate transfer belt 25 is prevented.
