IMAGING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus, such as a digital camera, capable of controlling the time of exposure performed according to image photography operation in arbitrary time units, regardless of the output period of charge from the horizontal register of a solid-state imaging device 1. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises the solid-state imaging device 1, a drive that generates a horizontal synchronizing signal and supplies a subpulse to the solid-state imaging device 1 at the period of the horizontal synchronizing signal, and a control circuit 8. In the imaging apparatus, a photography mode can be set which repeats a series of operations including operation for outputting charge at the period of the horizontal synchronizing signal from the horizontal register of the solid-state imaging device 1; and exposure time is controlled by supplying a series of subpulses to the solid-state imaging device 1 for time except the exposure time of an imaging surface within prescribed time, when image photography operation is performed while the photography mode is being set. A control circuit 8 changes the period of the horizontal synchronizing signal when the image photography operation is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
