Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buried material measuring device and buried material measuring method capable of accurately measuring the cover thickness of the buried material. SOLUTION: The buried material measuring device 1 comprises an electric wave transmitting/receiving section 4 for transmitting and receiving electric wave between an RF tag 2 and a reader 3, a calculation section 5 for calculating the distance from the RF tag 2 up to the reader 3, and an arithmetic section 6 for calculating the cover thickness D of the buried material. In the buried material measuring device 1, when the cover thickness D of a reinforcing steel 8 buried in the concrete 7 is measured, the reader 3 is first arranged on the surface of the concrete 7, and the electric wave intensities P and Q are obtained, by transmitting and receiving electric wave between the reader 3 and RF tags 2A and 2B attached to the surface of the reinforcing steel 8 at a distance L. Subsequently, distances X and Y are calculated with the electric wave intensities P and Q, based on the data stored in a database 10.
