Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having optical properties suitable to optical elements, which is used for an optical filter for use in an image display apparatus and an optical recording material using a short-wavelength laser beam. SOLUTION: The compound has a dioxinone structure represented by general formula (I). In the formula (I), A represents a structure selected from a carbon ring and a heterocyclic ring; R1and R2are each independently a hydrogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group which may be substituted, a 1-10C alkoxy group which may be substituted, a 6-30C aryl group which may be substituted, a 6-30C aryloxy group which may be substituted, or a 6-30C arylalkyl group which may be substituted; and n is an integer of 1 to 4.
