TRANSFER DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device capable of preventing void and insufficient transfer of a transfer image resulting from an environmental change and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the same. SOLUTION: The transfer device includes: an intermediate transfer belt 101 moved in an endless manner; a secondary transfer bias roller 102 that applies a transfer current in contact with the belt 101; and a secondary transfer opposite roller 103 disposed on the face of the intermediate transfer belt 101 opposite to its contact face with the secondary transfer bias roller 102 and used to guide the transfer current in the direction of the thickness of the intermediate transfer belt 101, thereby defining a transfer position between the secondary transfer bias roller 102 and the secondary transfer opposite roller 103. In such a configuration, a secondary transfer nip current flowing from the intermediate transfer belt 101 to the secondary transfer opposite roller 103 is maintained at a prescribed range regardless of an environmental change by applying a secondary transfer bias to the intermediate transfer belt 101 from the secondary transfer bias roller 102.
