PROTRUDING ROLL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protruding roll composed of a composite material shell, capable of being bent in a desired curvature by adequate torque and operated at a low speed. SOLUTION: The protruding roll is composed of at least two partial rolls 10 and 30 each equipped with composite material shells 11, 21 and 31. The protruding roll comprises two end part rolls 10, 20 and 30 and two end part rolls are together connected directly or by the intermediate part roll 20 so as to leave a gap D between end faces of part rolls. The protruding roll comprises end journals 12 and 32 connected to outer end of roll shell of each end part roll and these end journals are supported to a frame structure R by end bearings 40 and 50. These part rolls are together connected by intermediate journals 13 and 33 rotating together with roll shell of each part roll. The intermediate journals are supported to a fixed supporting beam P of the outside of the protruding roll by intermediate bearings 60 and 70. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
