Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce consumption power of a heating resistor by improving a heating efficiency, to improve strength of a substrate under the heating resistor and to provided a heating resistor element which can be readily manufactured at low cost, and to provide a thermal head having the heating resistor element, a printer and a method for manufacturing the heating resistor element. SOLUTION: This thermal head 4 of the printer is constituted of the substrate 11, a heat accumulation layer 12 bonded to one face of the substrate 11 and the heating resistor 13 provided on the heat accumulation layer 12. A recessed portion 26 is provided to at least one of the face of the substrate 11 at the side of the heat accumulation layer 12 and the face of the heat accumulation layer 12 at the side of the substrate 11 to be opposed to the heating resistor 13, and then a hollow section 27 is formed in the region opposite to the heating resistor 13, the region being disposed between the substrate 11 and the heat accumulation layer 12.
