Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of processing an SD Proxy signal and an HD Proxy signal by a shared format and consequently of suppressing the circuit scale of an optical disk recording and reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus for receiving the SD signal (YES in S1) generates the SD Proxy signal from the SD signal (S3). On the other hand, when receiving the HD signal (NO in S1), the apparatus applies down-convert processing to the HD signal to convert the HD signal into the SD signal (S6) and thereafter generates the HD Proxy signal from the SD signal (S7).
