OIL SENSOR INSTALLING STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent foreign matter such as sludge from remaining in a sensor installing opening for installing an oil level sensor in a bottom part of an oil pan of an engine. SOLUTION: This oil sensor installing structure is formed by arranging an oil hole 19a arranged in the vicinity of a lower end part of a sensing part 14 of the oil level sensor 12 fixed to the bottom part of the oil pan 11 in a position lower than the upper edge of a sensor installing part 11c surrounding the sensor installing opening 11d of the oil pan 11, and since the sensor installing part 11c is formed with an oil releasing groove 11i having the upstream end communicating with the sensor installing opening 11d under the oil hole 19a and having the downstream end communicating with the lowest part 11b lower than the lower end of the sensor installing opening 11d, when extracting engine oil in the oil pan 11, the engine oil gathered in the sensor installing opening 11d surrounded by the sensor installing part 11c can be discharged via the oil releasing groove 11i, and the foreign matter such as the sludge can be prevented from remaining in the sensor installing opening 11d.
