Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electrolysis which is easily manufactured for a short time without requiring to dissolve an electrode material to make a solution and a method of the same. SOLUTION: The electrode for electrolysis is provided with a substrate 10 and an electrode layer 11 formed on the surface of the substrate 10 to produce hypochlorous acid by the electrolysis. The electrode layer 11 is formed by a laser ablation method using the electrode material as a target 2. The method of manufacturing the electrode for electrolysis for producing hypochlorous acid by the electrolysis is carried out by vapor-depositing the electrode material on the surface of the substrate 10 by the laser ablation method. The electrode material preferably comprises one kind of palladium, rubidium, rhodium, iridium, platinum, nickel, tin, titanium and zirconium or the alloy or oxide consisting essentially of them.
