TELEVISION BROADCASTING RECEIVER AND AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SELECTION METHOD FOR TELEVISION PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid missing of a desired television program by a viewer without performing registration operation and the like. SOLUTION: The day of the week, the time of day, and a channel number when channel selection is performed with a remote controller 10 or the like are collected as selection information (steps S1 and S2), the information equivalent to the selection information is newly registered unless it is not registered to a database, and a database is created where a viewing pattern every day of the week of the viewer is reflected (steps S3 to S5). When an auto mode is selected by a mode setting means 6a (a step S11) and the current day of the week and the selected time of day coincide with the day of the week and time of day registered to the database (steps S12 and S13), a channel number corresponding to them is specified from the database, the television signal of the specified channel number is selected by a tuner 2, and the television program of the channel number is broadcast by a display 6 (a step S14).
