METHOD FOR PRODUCING STYRENIC POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a styrenic polymer, by which the polymer capable of exhibiting excellent impact resistance, while retaining a high mol. wt., a high cross link degree, and good moldability, can be obtained in good productivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the styrenic polymer, comprising polymerizing a styrenic monomer or a monomer mixture of the styrenic monomer with a vinylic monomer capable of being copolymerized with the styrenic monomer, is characterized by using a t-alkylperoxy monocarbonate having a conjugated double bond at the terminal as a polymerization initiator. The t-alkylperoxy monocarbonate is preferably a compound represented by the general formula (1) [R is H or methyl; R' is a 4 to 12C tertiary alkyl or a tertiary aralkyl; X is a 1 to 4C straight chain or branched alkylene; (n) is an integer of 1 to 4].
