BEARING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE WHEEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a vehicle wheel, which bearing device has excellent durability by surely suppressing the stick slip noise at the starting time of the vehicle to be caused by the relative slip at the abutting surface between the caulked portion of a hub ring and the shoulder portion of a joint outer ring, and further by preventing the intrusion of foreign substances, such as water, mud, into a spline fitting portion. SOLUTION: In the bearing device for a vehicle wheel, a hub ring 101 and an inner race 102 are integrated by caulking the end portion of the small diameter stepped portion 112 of the hub ring 101, and the stem portion 127 of a constant speed universal joint 106 is inserted into the stem portion inserting hole 110 of the hub ring 101 so as to be spline-fitted. A stopper portion 141 for restricting the axial position of the stem portion 127 of the joint outer ring 115 with respect to the hub ring 101 is arranged on the inside peripheral surface of the stem portion inserting hole 110 of the hub ring 101. An axial clearance m is formed between the caulked portion 111 of the hub ring 101 and the shoulder portion 116 of the joint outer ring 115 in the state of restricting the position of the stem portion 127 by means of the stopper 141.
