PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user interface easy to understand and easy to use by displaying a reason why a command is inexecutable and a method for making it executable when an inexecutable command is selected, in relation to a data processing system for executing a function selected by a command/icon. SOLUTION: Whether a selected command is executable is determined by an execution feasibility determination processing means 11; and, when it is inexecutable, a relevant message such as a reason why it is inexecutable or a method for making it executable which is stored in a message information storage means 13 is displayed. When an inexecutable command in terms of an operation procedure or user privilege is mixed in a pull-down menu 22, a command/icon display processing means 14 displays it by changing the display format of both of them.
