OPTICAL FIBER CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable of self-support type which can easily separate a support wire part and a main body part and does not break a support wire part when wounded to a drum and unwounded from a drum even when enlarging a lateral width of the main body part. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable of self-support type is composed of the main body part and the support wire part. The main body part 11 is constituted by arranging a tension member 15 and one or more coated optical fibers 14 in parallel and integrally covering and housing them with a main body part jacket 16. The outer surface of the jacket 16 is located on the outside of a circumference having radius 2.0 mm around the housed coated optical fibers 14. The support wire part 12 is constituted by covering a support wire 17 with a primary sheath 18 and a secondary sheath 19. The primary sheath is integrally formed with the jacket 16 via a connection part 13 of a narrow width passing through the cable center axis and the second sheath 19 is formed on the outer surface of the primary sheath 18 in a lateral width equal to the lateral width L1 of the main body part 11.
