Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an electrode catalyst which is carried with high dispersion and does not cause coagulation of platinum particles by fuel cell operation, and to provide an electrode therefrom. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method having a metal or metal alloy supported on a conductive carbon carrier 1, it comprises a step of imparting sulfur to the surface of the conductive carbon carrier and a step of supporting the metal or metal alloy to the conductive carbon carrier via sulfur. It is preferable that sulfur is selected from one or two or more types of sulfur containing compounds selected from the group consisting of H2S, P2S5, SO2, CS2, H2SO4and H2SO3.
