Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the ability for thickening a liquid surfactant system preferably at a cold working temperature. SOLUTION: The method for thickening a liquid containing a surfactant, comprising bringing one or more kinds of alkoxylated lipophilic glucose derivatives into contact with the second liquid containing the surfactant is characterized by (i) one or more kinds of the alkoxylated lipophilic glucose derivatives present in liquid states, and (ii) at least 10% of viscosity increase caused by substituting at least 25 wt.% of one or more kinds of the alkoxylated lipophilic glucose derivatives with 3 mol of a lipophilic substituent per mol of the glucose derivatives.
