OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium having high recording density and high data transfer rate suitable for BD system by structurally combining the materials of the recording layers. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium of this invention is structured with a substrate, a reflective layer which is placed on the substrate and reflects incident laser beam and an information recording layer placed on top of the reflective layer, and when irradiated with the laser beam, this optical recording medium records information by the mechanism which produces the new material with different reflection factor from the surrounding materials within the information recording layer. The information recording layer is composed of the first recording layer which includes the compound consisting of the forms of AXB1-X(0.1≤X≤0.9) (where A is one element chosen from a group of Ni, Ag, W, and Cr, and B is one or more elements chosen from a group that excludes the elements corresponding to A) and the second recording layer which includes one or more elements chosen from a group of Si, Sn, Sb, and Ge, and is characterized that the first recording layer is irradiated before the second recording layer.
