Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit a decrease in locking power and further rigidity of a protecting tube, and to enhance water proofing property of the protecting tube. SOLUTION: An ignition coil device for an internal combustion engine comprises a case, a center core provided in the case, a primary coil and a secondary coil provided outside the center core in the case, a high-tension cable one end of which is electrically connected to the secondary coil and the other end of which is electrically connected to an ignition plug, and the protecting tube covering the peripheral surface of the high-tension cable. A lead 10 is formed that projects towards the high-tension terminal to encircle the insertion hole of the bottom of the case, the front end of the protecting tube is elastically locked to cover the lead 10, and the end of the lead 10 is formed with a lock 15 having a cross section in the dog-leg shape that projects radially outwardly when cut along the axis direction.
