Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of securing the traveling stability of a belt member while saving the cost. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 includes; the belt member 34 which is stretched between at least two rollers 30 and 32; a protrusion 54 protrusively formed at one end side in the width direction of the inner surface of the belt member 34 along the traveling direction of the belt member 34; engagement parts 56 formed at the end parts of respective rollers 30 and 32 so that the protrusion 54 can be engaged with the parts 56; and an image carrier 20 which carries a toner image to be transferred to a recording medium P carried by the belt member 34. The roller 32 is axially supported while shifting the other end side of the belt member 34 in the width direction so that the roller 32 may be separated from the image carrier 20.
