PICTURE REPRODUCER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a mechanism as to immediately see what kind of scenes are recorded in a recording medium, and a picture reproducer comprised to be able to selectively display the index image of the scenes recorded in the recording medium and a normal reproduction image. SOLUTION: The picture reproducer comprises a storage means (1-8) for storing search image data which is reproduced during normal reproduction or search reproduction; an index image generation means (4-4) for generating index image data by using multiple pieces of the search image data stored therein; and a selection means (4-13) for selectively displaying a display image related to the reproduction image data, and a display image related to the index image data in a monitor.
