Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical splice capable of accurately splicing optical fibers through a simple operation without using tools. SOLUTION: The mechanical splice is composed of: a first array 20 having a U-shaped groove 21 into which a coated optical fiber 11 at the end of an optical fiber 10 is inserted; a second array 30 superposed on the first array to clamp therewith the coated optical fiber inserted into the groove; a first main body 40 mounted with the first array and provided with a fiber groove 41 into which an optical fiber is inserted; a second main body 50 mounted with the second array and superposed on the first main body to hold therewith the first and second arrays; and a pressurizing member 60 engaged with the superposed first and second main bodies to clamp these bodies.
