Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact automatic transmission controller capable of controlling an automatic transmission in accordance with vehicle occupant's intention. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission controller is provided with a mechanical pump 18 driven mechanically by an engine 4 of a vehicle, an electric pump 12 driven electrically, a pressure adjusting unit 21 for adjusting liquid pressure outputted into a plurality of friction elements 2a to 2e by utilizing working fluid discharged from the mechanical pump 18, and a selection valve 40 provided among two start time tightening friction elements 2b to 2e or more to be tightened at vehicle start time among the plurality of friction elements 2a to 2e and the electric pump 12 to select the friction element for receiving liquid pressure outputted from the electric pump 12 among two start time tightening friction elements 2b to 2e or more in accordance with vehicle occupant's command.
