METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING SHAPE IN ROLLING MILL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the technique of shape control in a rolling mill in which the generation of unnecessary ON/OFF operation in a cooling medium spraying device is suppressed while controlling deviation from a target shape to the degree to which it is out of question practically in a rolled stock to be obtained. SOLUTION: The absolute value of deviation 1 of a predicted shape determined by a first calculating means 24 is determined by a third calculating means 28 and further, the absolute value of the deviation of a predicted shape calculated by a second calculating means 26 is determined by a fourth calculating means 30. Those absolute values are compared with the threshold value by a comparing means 32 and, when both those absolute values are within the threshold value, ON or OFF of spraying the cooling medium which is decided at the last control is maintained as it is in a deciding means 34 on the basis of the compared result.
